Among thousands of reports of property damage and loss in the blazing California wildfires, two historic sites suffered significant losses.

Will Rogers, who made many visits to Fort Worth, built his 31-acre ranch near Los Angeles starting in 1929. It was one of two state parks destroyed by fire Wednesday.

The parks are home to iconic historical homes, including Will Rogers’ ranch house and the Topanga Ranch Motel, once owned by William Randolph Hearst.
