
Silly question but does the power cord matter?
Mar 10, 2013 · What about using different power supply cables on different power supplies? I switched out my Antec 450 watt for a Rosewill 650 watt but just kept using the Antec's mains cable since I was too lazy to open the bag to get the Rosewill one.

Jan 10, 2001 · Most PSU's 5" drive and ATX connectors are wired with 20 ga. wire these days some also use 22 ga. for the 3" drive connector segments. Check it for yourself - get a magnifying glass and read the fine print on the sides of your PSU's wiring. In the old days, it was 18 ga. for everything. I've got a very old 5" power Y here that's wired with 18 ga...
Computer won't turn on till I unplug and replug from PSU

I had recently moved my computer further away from the monitors so the cable that was causing the issue was new but I’m wonderibg if the 1.4 do cable wasn’t happy with the 1.1dp monitor. Either way, try unplugging graphics card and use on board graphics with a different cable.

May 2, 2011 · I think that pretty much all modern PC's have a setting for this. It allows you to, for example, use the switch on a power strip to turn on the pc, if you'd rather use that, or if the switch on your case is having issues. In other cases, there might be some software running that you want to keep up and running, even if the power goes out for a bit.

At present the machine will boot if left off for 15–30 minutes but in only 2–3 minutes the vid signal is lost.

May 20, 2018 · Even when you shut down the system, all PSUs supply a small amount of standby power so that the motherboard can wake itself up (e.g. through USB, wake-on-LAN, RTC alarm, etc.). If you turn off the standby power then you will lose those wake triggers. Always leaving the switch on is by design.
