Feb 8, 2023 · Use inline “low noise” adapter like Noctua NA-RC6 (or 7,8,10, etc. they make a bunch with different resistance) on the existing fans. These work on non-Noctua fans too. They slow them down via a resistor.

Jan 6, 2016 · Did you swap out the fans for your mod? My fans are directly connected to the motherboard not the backplane. I set the fan settings to "OPTIMAL" which is supposed to reduce the noise and calm the fans down to 30% usage.
Supermicro noise levels - ServeTheHome Forums
Nov 8, 2012 · I recently picked up a Supermicro 836TQ-R800B. Unfortunately, it's way too loud for in-home use (IMHO). The PSU fan by itself isn't too horrible, in that I can't really hear it through the walls and door (the network/server stuff has its own room). Jun 21, 2016 · I got tired of the noise with my SuperMicro X10 Server (4027GR-TRT), but didn't want to get into involved hardware fan swaps which still may produce unsatisfactory results. For reference, the "Optimal" fan setting decided to run half of the fans at 8000RPM at idle, and the other half at 5000RPM at idle.
