Apr 2, 2015 · This proves that flying lotus is a god and can work with anything, because Reason is pretty much the MS Paint of DAWs. He probably uses a ton of external instruments because reason doesn't support VSTs (which is absolutely ridiculous, but whatever)

Apr 24, 2012 · It's a well known fact that Flying Lotus keeps his production style/technique a well guarded secret, and rightfully so. He has one of the most unique sounds in the EDM world right now which creates some obvious desire to know what goes on behind the scenes. I'm not looking to copy, but simply to get inspired.

I'm sharing my favourite track by flying lotus here. I really love his kicks, it's like they punch you in the guts. They always come first in the mix. They have some sustain, not as much as 808s, but they still keep a sharp transient, they sound kinda lowpassed and it sounds like distortion or limiting gives them a distinct rumbling texture.

Apr 14, 2014 · all of those examples are different kits so I can't really pin point what you're looking for but one thing they do have in common is a lot of extra percussion and using claps and snaps either over or replacing hard snare drums. producers choice has a kit called "urban heat" that's 40 bucks, but you can get a free sample download that includes some stuff you might be looking for.
