I built a new shower system for my manufactured home using bulkhead fittings like you’d find on a water tank. The valves are now mounted inside the shower so they’re easy to replace without tearing into the wall. Everything is plumbed in exposed copper, which not only makes maintenance simple but also gives it a clean industrial look.
