Situations❗️Runners at 1st and 2nd, hitter shows bunt and runner at 2nd steals 3rd. I am sure this was just a miscue but it’s a great lesson to show for this type of situation. If a hitter shows bunt and 3rd baseman breaks in, SS should be getting the bag. I always hated this scenario as a SS because you can’t shade too far up the middle incase a runner steals 3rd like this scenario but you also can’t be shaded too far towards 3rd incase a ball is hit on the ground to the right and you have to c

Keep fingers more on top of the ball when starting your motion, not behind. I was always taught to face the ball away but you are technically never in that position when throwing, or shouldn’t be as it puts more stress on the elbow. #softball #baseball #throwing #infield #outfield

Outfield drill working on pushing out (not up) into a crow hop. Start on your glove foot - righties will start on their left foot and lefties will start on their right. Make sure you’re hopping far out in order to gain some ground and really push. Showing a little lefty love here 🫶🏼 #outfield #softball #baseball #outfielddrills

If you’re getting close to the fence on a foul ball, always go feet first to avoid injury. You can make this a drill at practice. Have the tosser close by the fence and toss a ball 5-10 feet from the fence. #softball #fastpitch #fastpitchsoftball #outfield

Outfield drill to work on exploding into the drop step. I prefer the subtle shuffle to the quick drop step so there’s a physical change in speed and they can feel that first step into the drop step being explosive. For this specific direction, they should be planting with their right foot, quickly turning their hips and taking a deep drop step with their left foot. We go both directions. . . . #outfield #softball #baseball #softballdrills #baseballdrills #outfielders

Outfield drop step drill. As the athlete is about to land, throw the ball in either to the right or the left. This works on the drop step and reacting quickly. I am forcing her to jump forward because I want to overemphasize the deep drop step. Because she had to jump forward over cones, it forces her to take a deeper drop step, avoiding the cones as she’s going back. #softball #baseball #outfield #outfielder
