It rests on the palate, supports the airway, and helps guide proper facial growth. So if it’s thrusting? That’s a red flag — not a behavioral flaw. ❌ It’s not bad behavior. ❌ It’s not stubbornness. ❌ It’s not fixed by metal cages. ✅ It’s a survival adaptation to an underdeveloped jaw. ✅ And it deserves a smarter response. �

What helps- educating the family on proper muscle and breathing mechanics and finding out the why for the child that is digit sucking.
